There are four main categories of Title Sequences which are used. These are ;
- Titles on a Blank Screen
- Titles on still images
- Titles on Moving Images
-Titles using Animation or Motion.
Titles on a Blank Screen
These title sequences are quite common, often simple and uncomplicated. They usually are high in contrast in comparison to the background images and therefore make these titles quite effective. Some films which these have been used in are Psycho, and Pulp Fiction.
Titles on Still Images
These title sequences are more elaborate than Titles on a blank screen and often give the audience a sense of the genre of the film, through the images they have chosen to use. As the credits get longer they usually use more images. These types of title sequences mean the combination of different medias and most often or not use music. A film that has used this title sequence is Wimbledon. Along with using this title sequence it has been edited to the beat, which means that the words and credits move in time with the beat.
Titles over Moving Images

In these types of title sequences there tends to be no dialogue, or if their is it is often broken dialogue. These title sequences might offer a metaphor or a narrative thread in order to help introduce the
audience to the storyline. Some films that have used these types of title sequences are Skyfall, Rear Window and City of the God.
Titles using Animation and MotionThese types of title sequences are quite modern, often use animated text and have become more and more popular in recent years. They require stylised editing and digital technology to be produced. Some films that have these sequences are Casino Royale and Catch me if you can.
My favourite title sequence is "Catch me If You Can" which title uses animation and Motion. This is my favourite title sequence as it has bright vibrant colours, but also has animated characters which make it unrealistic and more intriguing to watch. The title sequence also flows together really well allowing one section to flow into the other section seamlessly.

Therefore title sequences can be categorised in four different ways, titles on a blank screen, titles on still images, titles over moving images and titles using animation or film. However my favourite is titles using animation and motion as I found them more interesting and appealing to watch as they tend to have bright colours and large writing or images.
