Blog post 5 - Kyle cooper

Kyle cooper interview

Kyle cooper is accredited as the man who single handidly revitalised the main title sequence as an art form.
He believes that a good title sequence should do 3 things;
- dove tail seamlessly into the film
- set an expectation for the film
- makes you forget about everything else and gets you excited.
Cooper was also the creator of the iconic title sequence of the film, seven, created in 1995. The font used in the films title sequence used the idea of a hand written font, this connects to the main character of the film and his use of a journal. The typography also links to the story line of the movie.

When asked about other title sequences he says he likes both Dead zone and To kill a mockingbird. He found the title sequence of dead zone enjoyable because of the simple typography and the music which played in the background was significant in this sequence as it played out over time which added to the theme of mystery. To kill a mocking bird because he feels it encapsulates the main characters obsession, he also enjoyed the contrast between the type and the image used. The typography was lined horizontally eyre as the images were more circular.
