Titles on a blank screen

This is one of the most commonly used title sequences within film. Producers mostly use this type of title sequences because they cost a low amount of money to make compared to other sequences. Titles on a blank screen are very simple and straight to the point, it also has a nice high contrast.
Examples of this can be seen in Psycho and Pulp fiction

Titles on still images

Titles on still images are a way of incorporating text with film. Through this type of title sequence you can grasp an idea of what type of genre the film belongs to. In some films the title credits are edited to the beat. An example of this is Wimbledon, where each title credit is introduced when a beat drops in the song played in the background.

Titles over moving images

Titles over moving images incorporates the credits title with moving images.  usually with this type of title sequence there will be sound, such as a backing track or instrumental but there would be no dialogue. The moving images would offer a metaphor or narrative thread. An example of this would be Rear Window and City of Gods

Titles using Animation or Motion

Titles using animation or motion is an art form. The title integrated with images and this requires digital technology. The graphics used would usually relate to the theme.
This is also my favourite type of title sequence. An example of this is Catch me if you can and the James Bond movies.
